High real estate prices in the Toronto area inspire many families to maximize the space they have as an alternative to the costs of buying and selling. City by-laws regulating renovations can be complex often making the permit process time consuming. But one of the least expensive alternatives is to reclaim the attic. Principal designer Andrew Fee says, " its cheaper to build up than to build out". On this project we were able to create two large bedrooms and bathroom by opening up the landing with skylights and raising the roof to give eight foot ceilings."
